Commute to Columbia

I want to commute from South Baltimore to Columbia (specifically Dobbin road at 175). Does anyone have any advice on routes? I have considered Route 1 to Old Montgomery Rd. Old M road seems ok, but I was hoping to avoid route 1 if possible. Any ideas? I am open to dirt trails as required.

There are also some nice single track trails going through the park that will get you to the other side as well, most likely they will not be faster but might make a nice after work refresher route for the way home.

(Nursery rd. become W. Nursery rd.) R River rd. R Furnace Ave. R Furnace Ave. ( to stay on Furnace Ave.) L Race Rd. R Hanover Rd. L Hi Tech Rd. L Coca Cola Dr. R. Dorsey Rd. / MD103 (Timbuktu Restaurant at the top of the hill on your left.) X US1 ( MD103 becomes Meadowridge rd.) L Mayfield Ave. L Waterloo Rd. / MD108 R Summer Cloud Way R Saddle Dr. L Tamar Dr. L Old Dobbin Ln. * R Dobbin Rd. * * I don't know about this secion but it should be safe. vinny
