(Reisterstown, Maryland) On Sunday, May 16, Kayam Farm will hold its second annual EcoRide: Bike for a Greener Maryland and EcoFair to celebrate ecology, agricultural practice and green living. Registration for the bike ride opens at 7:45a.m. and riding begins between 8:00 and 11:00am. There is a registration fee of $36 per rider for those who register before May 16 and $45 for walk-in registration. The EcoFair is free for registered riders and includes a lunch buffet. Kayam’s EcoRide will take participants through scenic countryside with rolling hills, farms, and estates. The ride will begin at Kayam Farm in Reisterstown, and riders can choose from 6, 18, 30, 50 and 62 mile routes. Over sixty volunteers will coordinate by handling registration, manning rest stops, and provide support to riders. Following the ride, participants are welcome to attend the EcoFair, a family-friendly event that includes food, games, a moon-bounce, and a “tyke-ride,” for children. A large vendor fair will include 26 vendors of earth –friendly products and services, including landscaping annuals and perennials that can be ordered in advance for pickup at the event. All of the days activities will be on site at Kayam Farm and visitors will have an opportunity to tour the farm, meet Kayam’s animals, and experience the farm’s fruit and vegetable gardens.

Kayam, located on the grounds of the Pearlstone Conference and Retreat Center is a 5 acre farm where organically grown vegetables, culinary and medicinal herbs, fruit, and small grains are cultivated for use at the Pearlstone Center and throughout the greater Baltimore community. The farm also offers Jewish and non-sectarian agricultural and environmental education with the goal of reconnecting people with their food, and the earth, inspiring social and ecological responsibility in the Jewish community, greater Baltimore and beyond. Kayam is the most active Jewish educational farm in the country, serving almost 3,000 participants of all ages each year.
