Who Stops at Stop Signs?

This is video of an intersection, (I think located in or near Iowa City, Iowa), that was watched for only 5 minutes. I counted a total of eleven motor vehicles that did not stop when and where they were supposed to. Some didn't stop at all, they just rolled through the intersection.

The official count is 2 passed by stopping where and when they were suppsoed to and 9that did not, but I counted an additional 2 in the video. It is ironic that bicyclists are chastised for not stopping and yet here we have over 10 motorists not stopping. http://bicycleadvocacyandsafety.blogspot.com/2009/03/who-stops-at-stop-signs.html;

Like most people I live a hectic life and who has the time for much exercise? Thanks to xtracycle now I do. By using my bike for daily activities I can get things done and get an hour plus work out in 15 minutes extra of my time, not a bad deal and beats taking the extra time going to the gym. In case you are still having trouble being motivated; the National Center of Disease Control says that inactivity is the #2 killer in the United States just behind smoking. ( http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/bb_nutrition/ ) Get out there and start living life! I can carry home a full shopping cart of groceries, car pool two kids or just get lost in the great outdoors camping for a week. Well I got go, another outing this weekend.

This could easily be replicated in any of a number of places in Baltimore. For example, the stop light at South Rd and Kelly Ave in Mt Washington basically serves pedestrians. Anytime I push the button to cross and the light turns red, at least three or four cars barrel right through, sometimes even when I'm halfway across the road, often practically blindsiding me. I am sure they see me, but it's obviously far more important that they not get tied up at a light for two minutes. Farther up South Rd there's a stop sign that virtually no one stops at all. It's a double standard, and I personally don't see how both sides will ever see each other's points. I just keep hoping I will live to see the day when the oil supplies dry up and all the cars grind to a halt. The pleasure of that sight will likely bolster my confidence enough to face the post-apocalyptic nightmare that will surely follow.
