Inauguration Ride
Riding to DC for the inauguration
I will be riding my bike to the historical inauguration of President Barack Obama on the 20th day of January, 2009. Some say that it is crazy to even think of going down there, but WABA have made arrangements to accommodate cyclists with bike valet stations, so I'm going. It will be cold and there is a chance that I won't get within a mile of the Mall but it's worth a try.
The route I'm taking is one I rode back in November on the monument to monument ride. It will be cold and there will be traffic, lots of traffic. I may shorten my exposure time by taking the light rail to BWI and joining the route there. My speed will be moderate as I will be packing extra layers and food in a pannier, as well as stopping to warm up from time to time.
