Hit by a bus today, again

Yes, hit by a bus, again. I was hit today at about 5:45 in the 2400 block of Charles street by bus #4062, this was about two blocks from the last time an MTA bus hit me.

There were actually two busses riding together, after the rear bus hit me, I passed it and the front bus in the left lane, and was forced into parked cars by the front bus.

The last bus that forced me off of the road was #9924, that was about 9:00am on Maryland ave, I had to duck under its rear view mirror to avoid hitting it.

Whoever runs this site usually forwards these types of stories to the right people, so I'm ready to talk to whoever is interested in this story at the MTA.

Message forwarded to MTA and the City Bike/Ped Planner. I do hope you and your bike are ok. Generally MTA has been good about addressing buses passing bicyclists safely after the fact, we are stilling having a hard time getting MTA to institute safe driving around bicyclists training for drivers so we don't need instances like this to prompt the memo. I will also mention for general principles (not in reaction to the specifics of this accident) we can help to make bus drivers life a bit easier when we are playing leap frog with buses (the average speed of a bus and a cyclist is about the same in the city.) First always be visible to the bus mirrors and don't pass on the right of a bus. And if there is an opportunity to safely offer a courtesy (yielding) to a bus please do so by using hand motions to signal your intentions. In theory the odds should be that half the time the safest and expedient thing to do is for the bus to yield to a cyclist and the other half of the time we should be yielding to a bus. Try and keep life on the streets fair and considerate for all road users by all road users.
