Another thing for bicyclists to dodge

Two Fridays ago the day started well – it was a beautiful morning for cycling and the Mayor's ride to Lake Montebello was very enjoyable. The day, unfortunately, did not end as well. On my bicycle ride home in the afternoon a car drove up next to me (I was across from Harlem Park Rec Center) and shot me in the face with a pellet gun. One of the pellets was removed from my lip a couple of days later. Unbelievably, because of my cut and swollen lip the pellet was not initially noticed - it wasn’t until the swelling went down Sunday morning that I could tell the pellet was in the lip. I have since adjusted my route but have not stopped cycling. In addition to pot holes, sewer inlets, SUV mirrors, and drivers on cell phones, bicyclists in Baltimore now have to dodge pellets. Ouch.
