FREE BUS SERVICE COMING IN 2009

Baltimore City is Funding Three New Bus Routes

The short lived DASH bus service is coming back bigger and stronger than ever. One year from now,the City of Baltimore expects to be running the first of three free downtown bus routes. All three routes should be operational by September of 2009. North, East and West, the DASH will get you there in new Hybrid Electric Buses. The service will be paid for in part by an increase in the parking tax. Another reason to leave your car at home.

Like most people I live a hectic life and who has the time for much exercise? Thanks to xtracycle now I do. By using my bike for daily activities I can get things done and get an hour plus work out in 15 minutes extra of my time, not a bad deal and beats taking the extra time going to the gym. In case you are still having trouble being motivated; the National Center of Disease Control says that inactivity is the #2 killer in the United States just behind smoking. ( http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/bb_nutrition/ ) Get out there and start living life! I can carry home a full shopping cart of groceries, car pool two kids or just get lost in the great outdoors camping for a week. Well I got go, another outing this weekend.

I think its a good idea to bring the DASH back and at a good time when gas prices rising, this shuttle service may be successful. A new bus design and free service would attract riders attention. The bus lines should be recognized as lines (Green) traveling along Charles and St. Paul Sts. from Penn Station to Light St. Market, (Yellow) traveling from City Hall through [Harbor East] to Johns Hopkins Hospital and finally the (Blue) along Pratt and Lombard Sts. from Univ. of MD Transit Center to Patterson Park. In future successful service, a new (Orange) line route which will travel from Eastern Ave. and Chester St.(Fells Point) along Baltimore, Fayette, Greene and Paca Sts.(Downtown) along Pennsylvania Ave. to Upton/Avenue Market. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- (Green) Penn Station-Light Street (Yellow) City Hall-Johns Hopkins Hospital (Blue) UMD Transit Center-Patterson Park [future] (Orange) Fells Point-Upton/Avenue Market
