Section of B&A Trail is closed

By Ken Philhower (BBC)

Cyclists who ride on the B&A Trail in Anne Arundel County should be aware that a 0.4-mile section of the trail between Severna Park and Arnold is closed due to a washout. The section in question extends from milepost 4.0 southward to the intersection of Hoyle Lane, which is just north of milepost 3.5. This section of the trail will remain closed until repairs can be made. (I'm guessing this probably won't be until the weather gets a little warmer.)

The following detour is posted around the closed section:

Southbound:
At the "trail closed" signs near milepost 4.0, dismount and follow the dirt footpath to the right approximately 50 feet to the next street, Randell Rd.
Proceed south on Randell Rd. 0.1 mi. to stop sign.
Right on Roads End Lane and go 0.1 mi. to stop sign.
Left on Old County Rd. and go 0.15 mi.
Left on Hoyle Lane and go 0.3 mi.
Right on B&A Trail and continue south.

Northbound:
At the "trail closed" signs,
Left on Hoyle Lane and go 0.3 mi. to stop sign.
Right on Old County Rd. and go 0.15 mi.
Right on Roads End Lane and go 0.1 mi.
Left on Randell Rd. and go 0.1 mi. to dead end.
Dismount and follow dirt footpath about 50 feet to B&A Trail.
Continue north on B&A Trail.

For cyclists who do not want to dismount and walk on the footpath, the following detour is suggested instead:

Southbound:
At the six-way intersection (B&A Trail, Evergreen Rd., B&A Blvd., and Old County Rd.),
Cross Evergreen Rd., bear right on Old County Rd. and go 1.1 miles.
Left on Hoyle Lane and go 0.3 mi.
Right on B&A Trail and continue south.

Northbound:
At the "trail closed" signs,
Left on Hoyle Lane and go 0.3 mi. to stop sign.
Right on Old County Rd. and go 1.1 miles.
At the 2nd stop sign, proceed straight through the six-way intersection onto
B&A Trail north.
