ISO Bike/Ped Coordinator for Baltimore


Great news the city is on track in trying to implement the newly adopted Bike Master Plan and is currently looking for qualified candidates:

The City of Baltimore Department of Transportation is currently hiring for the following position: SPECIAL BIKE/PEDESTRIAN CITY PLANNER II. Responsible for development and update of comprehensive bicycle and pedestrian plans, participation in the development of the long range transportation plans and providing strategic planning and direction, technical expertise and project management in the development and implementation of bicycle and pedestrian programs throughout the City of Baltimore. Responsible for the development and implementation of the City's ADA Transition Plan for the public right-of-way. Min. qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or related field, (Master's Degree preferred); 3 yrs. related exp.; or equivalent education and exp.; strong computer and GIS skills, writing and communication skills.

Like most people I live a hectic life and who has the time for much exercise? Thanks to xtracycle now I do. By using my bike for daily activities I can get things done and get an hour plus work out in 15 minutes extra of my time, not a bad deal and beats taking the extra time going to the gym. In case you are still having trouble being motivated; the National Center of Disease Control says that inactivity is the #2 killer in the United States just behind smoking. I can carry home a full shopping cart of groceries, car pool two kids or just get lost in the great outdoors camping for a week. Well I got go, another outing this weekend.
