Columbia Downtown Master plan


<img width="119" height="120" align="left" src="http://www.baltimorespokes.org/images/articles/2005122615414186_1.jpg" alt="">The next meeting of the Transportation Advocates will be held on Tuesday morning, January 10, 2006 from 7:45 AM to 9 AM at the Florence Bain Senior Center, 5460 Ruth Keeton Way, Columbia. Coffee will be available from 7:30 AM.

We are devoting or January 10th meting to a better understanding of the elements of the Columbia Downtown Master plan that will have far-reaching implications not only for Columbia and Howard County but the whole region. The session will particularly focus on transit and pedestrian connectivity issues., the two most frequently cited priorities mentioned by the charrette participants.
We are fortunate to have three experts intimately involved in this process to lead the discussion. They are Marsha McLaughlin, Director of the Department of Planning and Zoning (DPZ), Bill Mackey of DPZ's Division of environment and Community Planning and Jud Malone , Town Center's representative on the Columbia Council. There will be ample time for a lively question and answer session following the initial brief presentations.

Be sure to attend this exciting and important Advocates meeting, Ask your friends and colleagues to join you.on January 10. Please note that the meeting will be rescheduled if the Howard County Schools are closed for inclement weather but will take place if the schools are open later.

Like most people I live a hectic life and who has the time for much exercise? Thanks to xtracycle now I do. By using my bike for daily activities I can get things done and get an hour plus work out in 15 minutes extra of my time, not a bad deal and beats taking the extra time going to the gym. In case you are still having trouble being motivated; the National Center of Disease Control says that inactivity is the #2 killer in the United States just behind smoking. ( http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/bb_nutrition/ ) Get out there and start living life! I can carry home a full shopping cart of groceries, car pool two kids or just get lost in the great outdoors camping for a week. Well I got go, another outing this weekend.
