A female cyclist was attacked on the CCT Trail on May 21. She was struck several times and her bicycle stolen. One week later a male
cyclist was killed on the Mount Vernon Trail (Daingerfield Island) in a failed robbery attempt. The suspect who was charged with the
slaying has been identified by the May 21 victim as her assailant.
As convictions can be difficult to obtain the police are seeking more information and witnesses. The likelihood of a conviction may
depend on how much quality information the police can acquire.
Please read the web page at www.spwgroup.com/crm May 21 was a lovely, clear spring day with the trails still lively with cyclists until early evening. The goal here is finding witnesses. Feel free to share this information with any and all cyclists (even the
"casual" weekend riders, not just the "hard core")you know - the greater the request for witnesses is disseminated, the better.
Several web pages about the May 21 robbery have been created. This one differs in that is routinely updated with information from the U.S. Park Police detective assigned to this case.
