<img width="114" height="106" align="left" src="http://www.baltimorespokes.org/images/articles/20050705105810479_1.gif" alt=""> Yesterday evening at 5:46 p.m. officers from the 6th District responded to a report of a bicyclist struck in the area of Great Seneca Highway and Quince Orchard Road. Officers and Fire Rescue arrived on the scene and found a 15 year old male had been struck near the intersection while attempting to cross the roadway and later died of his injuries. The young man has been identified as Rageim Wade of the 700 block of Clopper Road in Gaithersburg.

Preliminary investigation by The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has determined the bicyclist was traveling north on Quince Orchard Road when he was struck by a black Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Rebecca Bannister of the 900 block of Hillside Lake Terrace, in Gaithersburg. The Jetta was traveling west on Great Seneca Highway and struck Wade prior to clearing the roadway. Investigators have not yet determined if the bicyclist was in or near the crosswalk at the time he was struck. It is still unclear at this time the light sequence when the young man attempted to cross the intersection.

No charges have been filed against the driver of the vehicle. As is standard procedure, a complete investigation is being conducted by the Collision Reconstruction Unit. Any charges will be determined at the conclusion of the investigation in cooperation with the Montgomery County State
