Red Emma's

Greetings comrades & supporters!

We've got some sweet events coming up at Red Emma's and 2640 these next few weeks, plus some great new books in at the store! And even more exciting - it seems that we now have more daytime parking available in front of Red Emma's - the spots that used to be off limits until 6PM on the west side of St. Paul St. can now be used from 9AM-4PM. So it's that much easier to visit us for lunch if you're driving. And of course it's still really easy to visit us by bike - we've even got a lock here you can use on our huge custom anchor-chain bike rack if you've forgotten your own. So don't delay, and plan a visit any day of the week ... or check out one of these fantastic events!

In desperate need of help

Sorry to bother you but my life has come to a crossroad; move out of state to get a job and leave Baltimore Spokes or try to stay and continue bicycling advocacy. It is hard for me to toot my own horn but since I have received some comments that what we do here at Baltimore Spokes will be sorely missed if it were to stop, so I write this appeal; if you are aware of job that would give me some flexibility to attend meetings and/or an economical place to stay (at least for a short term basis) please contact me.

Let velocity drive your volume!

Adaptunes™
Let velocity drive your volume!

There's one more reason to be excited about iPhone 3.0

Skiing, mountain biking, or just driving in your car... no longer are you a slave to your iPhone's tactile volume control. Adaptunes allows you to set a minimum and maximum volume preference for whatever moves you. The faster you move, the louder your music gets. Come to a stop and Adaptunes will dim your volume low enough for you to communicate with those around you. And that's just the basic stuff... we have big plans for the future. Adaptunes will have many features that will excite you.

My bike

[Combine: a lot of people ask about my bike and the following request from Xtracycle and you get this post.]
Experience the practical and magical on an Xtracycle
A Humble Request

We here at Xtracycle are proud of all the changes we've seen in the last year - for our company, our community, our country. But sometimes that pride gets in the way of being true to the fact that we are still a company that has employees, an office, and a warehouse full of stuff (even a forklift!) - and all of these wonderful things cost money.

The recent economic slowdown has affected our distributors, our retailers, and in the last few months we've felt it as well. We are proud, but we should be honest too. We need your support. We need your business, and we need it now. We are committed to make it through tough times stronger, more resilient, and focused on the goal of building bikes that change lives. And we also have to pay the bills. Purchasing Xtracycle products, right now, will keep all of us healthy and strong.

Help us sell 100 Xtracycles by the end of may - we all know someone who will benefit from becoming an Xtracycle owner. We'll keep you posted on our progress each day - check our blog for updates. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you.

Spring Clearance Sale! March 7th & 8th at Joe's Bike Shop

[We do not give our local bike shops enough press, so any excuse we have to say thanks for being there and supporting bicycling, we'll do so. And hey sale prices are good too.]

Hello friends,

It is that time of year again when we need to clear out some inventory and make room for our incoming spring orders. Saturday March 7th and Sunday March 8th there will be big discounts on clothing, shoes, accessories, everything. We will even have every bike in the shop on sale.

This is a big event for us so please spread the word as much as you can. Tell everyone you know that rides or might be looking for a bike or anything, and of coarse we hope to see you there as well.

Thanks again for your efforts, as always they are much appreciated

joe

Support Kerri in Bike and Build 2009!

This Summer I will spend nine weeks volunteering with an organization called Bike and Build. I’m going to ride my bike from Jacksonville Florida to San Francisco California, 3534 miles! Along the way we spend time building houses with Habitat for Humanity across the country, including one week in Louisiana. We will also spend time educating and spreading the word about the importance of affordable housing in local communities, and offer safe riding seminars to children. The experience should be very rewarding and amazing from every aspect.

Following hurricane Katrina’s devastating impact on the Gulf Coast in 2005, Bike & Build re-routed Southern U.S. in 2006 to join the ongoing rebuilding effort in the Gulf Coast. The second week of the trip will be spent building in areas that are still in need of hurricane reconstruction. From there the group continues their trek West onto the ranges of Northern Texas, the deserts of the South West and, eventually, the coast of Northern California.

Please consider joining this group to show your support for the cause, as well as for my journey across the country. When the time comes, you can follow my blog if you’d like! http://kerribikeandbuild.blogspot.com/;

At this time you can go to www.bikeandbuild.org; for more information or to make a donation under my name. My fundraising goal is 5,000 to help with affordable housing! I'd appreciate any help you can give... it adds up quick :)
