Press Release
Baltimore City Approved Bike Trails

by B' Spokes

Like most people I live a hectic life and who has the time for much exercise? Thanks to xtracycle now I do. By using my bike for daily activities I can get things done and get an hour plus work out in 15 minutes extra of my time, not a bad deal and beats taking the extra time going to the gym. In case you are still having trouble being motivated; the National Center of Disease Control says that inactivity is the #2 killer in the United States just behind smoking. ( http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/bb_nutrition/ ) Get out there and start living life! I can carry home a full shopping cart of groceries, car pool two kids or just get lost in the great outdoors camping for a week. Well I got go, another outing this weekend.

did anyone else see some city workers painting a bike lane on pratt today beyond the normal orange barrier? it's really just a sharrow right now. what is to come of this?
From what I got from Nate Evans, who is the city's bicycle coordinator, this bike/bus lane you've seen will run from MLK to President St. They're looking to have it finished in January. A similar setup will also appear on Lombard St. so that there will be a designated east to west route for bicyclists too. At this time most cars have been obeying it during my ride times to and from work. There is the occasional car that zips out in to the lane to pass traffic. I've been pretty vigilant about watching out for this. My biggest concern is that we still have grates along Pratt St. that could be detrimental to a cyclist.
